I should have told you that the first thing you should do is pray. The reason that these things are happening to you is because God wants you to call out to him, he want you to pray. He is setting an example for you, I learned from a pastor that when we are really down, God wants us to get brought back up so far that there will be no question as to who helped you. I will give you an example. Last year I was living in a motel on Memorial Dr in Stone Mountain, GA, this year my children and I are in a 4 bedroom brand new home. Only God could have done this for us and I want you to know that he can do this for you, but you have to ask and talk with him. I apologize if I have affended anyone, but I must tell you the truth, you make up your mind because one way or anor you are going to call out his name!!
Please anyone with job listings or anyother help, please leave a post so I can send it to everyone.

I live in Atlanta, GA and have had a hard time with me and my children, being evicted numerous times having our electricity , gas and water cutoff all at he same time. I know you are looking for help and I will tell you some of the things that I have done, because let me tell you. I have gone from homeless to working for the government and living in a huge four bedroom home, we don’t have furniture yet, but we have lived with far less. And yes I am still living from paycheck to paycheck, but I am a testimony for anyone willing to listen. But you have to do this for yourself. No one can do it for you!! You have to realize that getting back on your feet is going to be difficult.
Remember I live in GA so if need help elsewhere try to follow the guidelines. Or send an email. If you know of anything that can help please email or respond to this blog so we can help people who really need it.
If you are reading this then you have access to a computer which is good. I will at some point have a magazine so everyone can have access to help.
FOOD: If you aren’t receiving county assistance, or can’t receive it then you need to call 211 the United Way Hotline. They will give you assistance to local food banks. If you don’t have any transportation then you can let them know and in some instances there might be some help. For the most part you are on your own. Give them your zip code and they will give you the times and places of food banks. What I suggest is getting to as many as you can.
CLOTHES: I know my little children needed clothes for school. I also needed clothes, but they were more important. First call 211 and once again get a list of places that can help you. Then talk to your children’s counselor, let them know your situation and they will help you so much. At least they are supposed to. They will give you gift cards for various dept store to get the clothes you need. They will also make sure you have help all year round. HOME: Getting a home. If you have been evicted then you need a home. Most likely you are staying with friends or living in a motel which is going to eat of whatever money you do have. This is the first thing you have to work on. I know you need a job to get the house, but if you don’t have a house how do you get money. You sacrifice even more than you are now.
Unless you have been beaten up by your domestic partner, or have some sort of addiction then you will not be given Section 8.
What I did was call ProMove, they have landlords and managers of apartment complexes that give second chances. Some of these might not be in the best condition, but you will have a roof over your head. Now this is where you can’t get discouraged, because you are going to have to be strong. Some of them will tell you that you need two months rent and a security deposit. Don’t panic. Try to work out a deal with the manager. Remember anything is possible. See if maybe you can pay the first months rent and then make payments on the rest.
JOB: Getting a job. If you need a job, it is hard out there. We all have to come down a couple of notches and realize we are not going to make $100,000 right out of the door, but you will at some point if you want. You should first go to your local job center and get a new resume. I had a very qualified but outdated resume, when I got help with my resume, I instantly got a job making $10.00 an hour. We will get into that later.
If you no computer skills I suggest that you go to a local temp agency, I know no one likes temp agencies. I have a good job and I got it through the temp agency. My assignment was to only last three months, I have now been here for two years. If you go to temp agencies, they will help you with your computer skills. One day I just sat in my agencies office and learned MS Office. I then got a job as a receptionist, which is easy to come by, but you have to have a nice demeanor and personality. Even if it is for a one day assignment, take it, they might just be looking for someone to take the position permanently. Even if this isn’t the case then you are starting to make a name for yourself at the agency and they will call you often with jobs. The key is to apply at more that one agency. Apply to at least two a week. I say this because the process is long, and if you don’t have a car, or even if you do, you will be tired out. I would apply to at least one a day. I say this because then everyday you have numerous agencies to call and at some point you will get a position.
CAR: Getting a car. The first thing you need to ask yourself is, do I need a car? If you live by a transit system, then I would wait for this one. But if you can afford to make some payments, and you still have bad credit, then you might want to consider a buy here pay here company. Now you have to be careful because these aren’t the most honest people, but I will have a list soon that can help get a car.
If you know of any programs or agencies that can help or if you would like to donate please leave a response so we can all help.
Keep checking back I will have more help soon.
